"Many millions of dollars are lost each year by American business due to illegal eavesdropping attacks personal, political, and professional reputations are frequently compromised or even destroyed..."

ELECTRONIC ESPIONAGE - Electronic eavesdropping is not difficult. The technology can be purchased from any local electronic or hobby shop. Recent advances in microelectronics design have made industrial spying an easy job. Smaller, more efficient devices - microphones the size of a grain of rice and transmitters smaller than a pen knife- effective eavesdropping is available to anyone.

COULD YOU OR YOUR COMPANY BE A TARGET? - According to the Washington Post, Fortune 500 Companies have spent many hundreds of thousands of dollars to counter electronic eavesdropping. The problems are regarded as very serious. It is clearly evident that absolutely no one is immune to this threat.

"Business secrets, important plans, or government contracts, could be in jeopardy. Careers and reputations of innocent individuals could also be threatened."

If this problem concerns you, then WE HAVE THE ANSWER.

S.E.G. Inc. has one of the top countermeasure teams in the country. S.E.G. Inc.’s Special Operations Group performs electronic eavesdropping countermeasures service nationwide and internationally using the same highly sophisticated test equipment and techniques as the select government agencies.

During the comprehensive countermeasure investigations, our team of security professionals will electronically inspect your offices for any clandestine devices, such as concealed radio transmitters and microphones, telephone line taps, instrument modifications, and carrier current bugs. In addition to the technical "sweep", S.E.G.’s technicians can perform a security survey of your facility and make specific recommendations on how you may enhance the security of your premises in the most efficient and cost effective manner. S.E.G. Inc. also offers on going security services where we will "sweep" your office on a regular basis, provide in—place technical security monitoring during special meetings or other events, and be available to address your immediate and possibly changing needs on a real time basis. These contract services are provided at a substantial cost savings.

CAPABILITIES CHART—A (What We Do)

During a Countermeasures Inspection, the following services will be performed:

1. A comprehensive assessment will be made of all designated areas and a plan is developed to best implement the countermeasures sweep.

2. A thorough physical search will be conducted in all designated target areas.

3. A full radio frequency spectrum analysis will be performed to check for any hidden radio transmitters and telephone parasitic transmitters.

4. Electrical power lines and other lines will be inspected with specialized receivers in order to locate any "Carrier current" devices.

5. A complete electronic analysis and physical inspection will be accomplished on all target areas, telephones and incoming telephone lines.

6. A verbal report of our findings will be given, only to the designated representative or to our client upon completion of the inspection service.

7. A full written report will be submitted no later than ten days after completion of the inspection service. This report will be submitted only to the client, or at his request - to a designated representative. This report will include all of our findings, our observations and, in many cases, recommendations to enhance the security of your information and facility.

CAPABILITIES CHART—B (How We Do It)

The following is a brief summary of the equipment that we use and the techniques that we employ during a Countermeasures Sweep. Obviously this is only a summary. We welcome any questions that you may have or requests for more detailed information.

1. A thorough Physical Inspection of the entire target area will be made, wall outlets, switch plates, phone junction boxes, drapes, shelves, furniture, and carpets will be visually inspected for concealed clandestine devices or wires leading from the target areas. All unidentifiable wires will be monitored with Line Driver Amplifiers to determine if any carbon core or other types of microphones are present. Tone signal generators of several varieties are used to trace any suspicious wires to their points or origin and termination. High intensity ultra violet lights are used on walls, ceilings, painted baseboards, etc. to locate minute changes in the surface area or pin holes which may lead to hidden microphones.

2. A Radio Frequency Spectrum Analyzer is used to inspect the entire R.F. spectrum from 2000 cycles per second (20 kHz.) up to 2 billion cycles per second, (2 Gig Hz.). This is accomplished in both wide and narrow bands FM as well as AM, SSB, and sub -carrier operating modes. We inspect the received signals visually on the analyzer scope while listening to the identified signal on the audio portion of the analyzer with a headset. All types of signals are interrogated.

3. Carrier Current Test Equipment is used to inspect electrical power lines and other wires for "carrier current" low frequency transmitters, which use power lines and other lines to carry voice and / or data out of the target area.

4. Voltage & Impedance meter is used to inspect all target area telephones for series and parallel wired transmitters as well as well as direct tone activated devices, voltage fired devices , hook switch by-passes and spare audio extraction. Additionally, the telephones are disassembled to permit a close visual inspection.

 5. Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR) is used to inspect the telephone line from the target area to the main telephone frame room and from frame the frame room outwards toward the telephone pole junction. The "TDR" sends a high-energy pulse down the line being inspected and each anomaly on that line reflects part of that energy back to the "TDR" (very much like a radar pulse). Each type of anomaly has a specific signature pattern, which is displayed on a digital screen. The "TDR" is programmed to the required velocity of propagation for each type of wire being tested. Other instruments are employed to perform line balance tests as well as resistance and capacitance tests on phone lines as appropriate.
